I enjoy an athlete-centric approach to my coaching with my athlete's getting very much involved in the planning, goal-setting and periodising of their plans and able to make adjustments within it to meet the day to day demands of life, work, family and other commitments, fostering a mentality of ownership which then in turn helps the athlete to be accountable training, not only by the coach and helps to motivate even on those cold dark mornings when the snooze button seems to be a better option.

I became involved in triathlon in 1991 at the age of 14 with a view to seeing what this burgeoning sport in its infancy was all about and if I was able to meet the challenge. It had me hooked and went on to form the direction my education and career took in following years, studying Physical Education at College and then Sport and Fitness Science at University whilst continuing to train and try to find out as much information as I could from the available sources on training methods.

As I continued to progess within the sport including racing at National level alongside future professionals, Ironman and 70.3 champs, Olympians and World Champions, I quickly discovered just how intricate and involved the puzzle is to combine all factors into making a successful triathlete. Through experimenting with my own training and making plenty of mistakes and learning from them I feel this has made substantial improvements to my coaching in later life and my ability to understand the needs of each individual whether first timer or aspiring pro.

Having left University I qualified as and becamce a full time swimming instructor through the ASA Level 1 and then later Level 2 inc coaching roles with City of Southampton SC and Witney and District SC.

In 2012 I qualified with the BTF Level 2 qualification and began taking triathletes across all sports in the Oxfordshire and Wiltshire area. Coaching the Vale Tridents Junior Triathlon Club and also taking charge of the swimming and running coaching for different military organisatons. Both of which helped me to gain experience of coaching future, current and past world champion level athletes and professionals as well as complete beginners.

Having moved to Dubai with Speedo Swim Squads in 2017, I then relocated to Oman two years later and qualified with Ironman U and have been offering triathlon coaching to all abilities of athletes both in-person and remotely since.
